Recently, in the news, I read an article about how Zillow is being sued for their Z estimate. It will be interesting to see where this ends up. Zillow is a great tool and good starting point for neighborhood values for a consumer. However, I have seen many inconsistencies in the last few months with them. I listed a house at $275K that Zillow valued at $351K at the time I listed it. Just a few weeks later, Zillow adjusted their Z estimate to $274K. And NO our market did not drop 22% in 3 weeks…the Z estimate was not correct to begin with. It is less effective for our area, especially for waterfront property. Zillow does not take the place of an agent so, I guess, I have some job security!
